SOCHI, February 14. /TASS/. Russia’s Energy Minister Alexander Novak believes that it is too early to estimate the potential impact of the new EU Gas Directive on implementation of the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline construction project.

"First it is necessary to study the document and then provide commentaries. Now it is too early to comment (on potential impact on Nord Stream 2 - TASS)," he told reporters on the sidelines of the Russian investment forum on Thursday.

On February 13, the Council of the European Union and European Parliament preliminarily approved tightening of the EU Gas Directive on the base of a substantially refined and eased draft of amendments developed by Germany and France.

German and French media reported earlier that Paris and Berlin prepared a compromise variant of amendments to the EU Gas Directive, which provides Berlin with wide possibilities for implementing the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project.
