Russia ready to build railway lines in Thailand, minister of industry and trade says

Russian companies are ready to take part in the projects on industrial cooperation, in the sphere of digital technologies, medicine and bio technologies

BANGKOK, December 27. /TASS/. Russian companies are ready to participate in building new railway lines in Thailand and also supply rolling stocks, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told a bilateral intergovernmental commission on Thursday.

"In the sphere of transport and infrastructure, Russian enterprises are ready to take part in the construction of new railway lines and supplying rolling stocks in the framework of the [Thai] government’s program on developing domestic railway lines with the prospects of establishing transport corridors with neighboring countries," Manturov told the commission on bilateral cooperation, which he co-chairs.

According to Manturov, Russian companies are ready to take part in the projects on industrial cooperation, in the sphere of digital technologies, medicine and bio technologies. "A vital area of cooperation may be using Russian comprehensive IT solutions in Thailand in the sphere of computer security and smart city technologies, including managing traffic and infrastructure in major cities," Manturov said. Later, these solutions may be suggested for other countries of the region, he noted.

In the energy sector, Russia’s Rosneft and Thailand’s PTT Public Company agreed on mutual supplies of up to 200 mln tonnes of oil by 2037. Rosneft, Gazprom and Novatek jointly with PTT are considering future projects in the sphere of liquefied natural gas.

Russia’s Rosatom state corporation jointly with Kinetics Corporation are designing a cyclotron and radiochemical center in the central Nakhon Nayok Province, which will manufacture radioactive isotopes for nuclear medicine.
