Russia resolves major food safety issues, PM says

MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. Russia has resolved major food safety issues, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in a live interview with Russian TV channels.

"We have resolved major food safety issues. We supply grain and other food products to global markets. Our country is actually destined to feed the entire planet and we will try to accomplish this task," he said.

According to Medvedev, apart from agriculture, various industries have also been rapidly developing, "they do not include only the defense industry, which has always been strong."

"Just look at the upsurge in the pharmaceutical industry, rooted in the growing demand and investments spend for these purposes," the Russian prime minister went on to say. "In the past several years, the pharmaceutical industry showed annual growth rates ranging from 15% to 25%, which makes it possible to supply people with medicines sold for rubles, so their prices are not affected by currency volatility," Medvedev pointed out.
