UK Supreme Court receives Russian appeal

Russia filed an appeal to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom against the decision of the Court of Appeal of England regarding comprehensive litigation for the case on Ukraine’s debt to Russia

LONDON, November 14. /TASS/. The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom confirms receipt of an appeal from Russia against the decision of the Court of Appeal of England prescribing the comprehensive legal proceedings for one of arguments in the case on Ukraine’s $3 bln debt to Russia, press service of the Court told TASS on Wednesday.

"I can confirm that we have received cases relating to this matter," the spokeswoman said. The Supreme Court has received three cases in total, where The Law Debenture Trust Corporation plc representing interests of the Russian Federation acts as a respondent in two cases and as an appellant in one case.

"Two of them are appeals which will have been referred to the Supreme Court by the High Court. The third is a permission to appeal application and the Justices will decide in due course if it something we can consider (it has to have an arguable point of law of general public important in order for the Supreme Court to consider a case)," the spokeswoman noted. She elected not to indicate the timing for their consideration.
