JIANGSU RUDONG /China/, July 19. /TASS/. The second stage of the Yamal liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant will be launched in early August, Chief Executive Officer of Russia’s gas producer Novatek Leonid Mikhelson said Thursday.
"Yamal LNG is being implemented ahead of schedule, the launch of the second stage is expected already in first ten days of August, while at the beginning of next year the project will be launched at full capacity," he said.
Yamal LNG (50.1% owned by Novatek, 20% - France’s Total, 20% - China’s CNPC, 9.9% - Silk Road Fund) is Novatek’s first LNG plant. The project, which is being implemented on the resource base of the Yuzhno-Tambeyskoye field in Russia’s Arctic region, envisions the launch of three stages, each with the capacity of over 5.5 mln tonnes a year, and the fourth - with the capacity of 0.9 mln tonnes. The first stage was put into operation on December 8, 2017.
