MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. Gazprom has built a linear part of the section of the pipeline Power of Siberia from the Chayandinskoye field to the border with China by 84.4% (more than 1,820 km), the Russian gas holding said on Friday.
At the same time, the second tunnel of the underwater crossing of the pipeline’s section through Amur river was completed.
Power of Siberia pipeline will be used to transport gas to the domestic Russian market and for export to China. The project of gas supplies to the eastern regions of China is also called the "eastern route".
In 2018, Gazprom plans to invest almost 218 bln rubles ($3.47 bln) in the project against 158.8 bln rubles ($2.6 bln) in 2017.
According to the contract signed on May 21, 2014, between Gazprom and Chinese CNPC, 38 bln cubic meters of gas will be supplied via the route in 30 years. The volume of the contract is $400 bln. Deliveries of Russian gas via the pipeline to China should begin in late 2019.
