MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Delegations from 95 countries, as well as 30 defense ministers, 15 general staff chiefs and deputy defense ministers will attend the Seventh Moscow Conference on Global Security, Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu said at a telephone conference on Monday.

"A thing to note is that the forum’s popularity has been growing with every year," he said. "Delegations from 95 countries are expected to attend the upcoming conference. As many as 30 defense ministers, 15 general staff chiefs and deputy defense ministers have confirmed their participation, as well as members of eight international organizations and 68 foreign security experts," Shoigu added.

The Russian defense minister pointed out that the large number of participants proved the conference had become an effective platform for exchanging experience on national, regional and global security issues. He also said that in 2018, ways to counter global terrorism in Syria would top the forum’s agenda.

"Russia is ready to share its experience in fighting the ISIL [the former name of the Islamic State terror group outlawed in Russia - TASS] and its views on the future developments in the Middle East, particularly as far as post-conflict reconstruction goes. The agenda will also include issues related to European security, the situation in Asia, Africa and Latin America. A special session will be dedicated to ways of using soft power in order to tackle military and political tasks," Shoigu noted.

"We expect the conference to help strengthen mutual trust and understanding between countries," the Russian defense minister concluded.

The Seventh Moscow Conference on Global Security is scheduled to be held on April 4-5.
