Defense industry products guarantee Russia’s peaceful development, says Putin

MOSCOW, December 14./TASS/. Russia needs products of its defense industry not for threatening others, but for a peaceful and decent development of the country, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

"You know how much this is needed at all times. And we see now that topicality was not lost, on the contrary it is rather high, topicality such sensitive for a country like ours - for Russia," Putin said. "And not in order to threaten somebody with these products made at enterprises of the defense industry, but to develop a peaceful life, to feel confident, fittingly, without looking around in fear of what can happen to us any second," the president went on at a meeting with representatives from the Russian military-industrial sector and heads of Russia’s defense enterprises.

He said Russia is not facing such a situation, and expressed hope that this will never happen owing to specialists from the Russian defense industry.

"I very much expect that you will continue the work done by the veterans (of the sector), I see young people here. They are certainly no less talented and devoted to their case and their country," Putin stressed, addressing the meeting.
