US-led coalition tries to hide grave consequences of Raqqa operation — Russian envoy

Vasily Nebenzya said Moscow was seriously alarmed "by the humanitarian situation in Raqqa caused primarily by the coalition’s indiscriminate use-of-force actions"

UNITED NATIONS. November 29. /TASS/. The US-led coalition is trying to hide the grave consequences of its operation for the liberation of Syria’s Raqqa from the Islamic State terrorist organization (outlawed in Russia), Russia’s Permanent Envoy to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said on Wednesday.

The Russian envoy who spoke at a UN Security Council session said that Moscow was seriously alarmed "by the humanitarian situation in Raqqa caused primarily by the coalition’s indiscriminate use-of-force actions."

"Now the United States and its main allies are taking steps, including in the information space, to hide the grave consequences of their military operation," Nebenzya said.

What is happening in Raqqa now is "a closely guarded secret," the Russian envoy said.

"The cause is clear. The coalition has something to hide from the world public: considerable victims among civilians and huge destructions," Russia’s envoy said.
