Russian defense industry rids itself of dependence on Ukrainian components

Russia and Ukraine had had close cooperation in two areas of defense manufacturing - helicopter engines and ship engines

MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. The Russian defense manufacturing sector has virtually fully ridded itself of dependence on the component parts made in Ukraine, Vladimir Kozhin, President Putin’s aide for cooperation in defense-related technologies said on Thursday.

"Yes, it’s practically over," he told Rossiya’24 news channel when the anchor asked him if the Russian manufacturers had pulled out the peg dependence on the supplies of Ukrainian technologies.

Kozhin recalled Russia and Ukraine had had close cooperation in two areas of defense manufacturing - helicopter engines and ship engines.

"But our program for replacement of imported equipment is functioning smoothly and problems on many positions have been removed," he said adding that the Russian producers of defense technologies had no problems on crucial positions.
