"In the military-technical sphere we observe steady trends and growth in the value of defense contracts. We note with satisfaction that for using its armed forces Egypt wishes to use the most advanced weapons and military hardware of Russian manufacture," he said at the third meeting of the joint Russian-Egyptian commission for trading and military cooperation on Monday.
Shoigu said the effectiveness and high combat potential of Russian weaponry was clearly demonstrated in the course of the Russian Aerospace Force’s operation in Syria.
He described as a noticeable event the May 2016 protocol signed by the governments of the two countries that granted Egypt access to the high accuracy signal of the global navigation system GLONASS.
"This document opens up prospects for further cooperation in this high-tech sphere," he said.
