MOSCOW, July 20. /TASS/. Over 600 new weapon systems arrived for the Russian troops in April-June 2018, Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu said on the single military output acceptance day on Friday.

"Over this period, defense enterprises delivered over 600 new items of armament, military and special hardware to the troops," the defense minister said.

Specifically, defense contractors delivered 11 planes of various classes and designation, five helicopters, 36 radar stations of various modifications, three warships, including the medium reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs and the missile corvette Vyshny Volochyok, Shoigu said.

"Besides, the armed forces received engineering and automotive vehicles, aircraft weapons, communications equipment and munitions," the defense minister said.

Most of the advanced Russian weapon systems "will be demonstrated at the Army-2018 international military and technical forum where everyone who wishes so will be able to get acquainted with their technical and combat capabilities," the defense minister said.

Also, defense contractors built 1,281 buildings and structures in the first half of 2018 or twice as many as in the same period last year, Shoigu said.

"Such high rates of the military infrastructure renewal have been achieved thanks to the strict compliance with the established timeframe and requirements for the quality of works, the introduction of the newest construction technologies and materials, and also the use of standardized projects of facilities of the Russian Defense Ministry," he pointed out.

Overall, 3,573 buildings and structures will be put into operation this year and a total of 113.9 billion rubles ($1.8 billion) will be allocated for this purpose, the defense minister stressed.

"Special attention is paid to building facilities for the three-component strike grouping of the nuclear containment forces. A total of 219 buildings and structures of the Navy, the Space Troops and the Strategic Missile Force have been put into operation since the beginning of the year," Shoigu said, stressing that this area of activity would continue to be a priority.
