100 Russian military policemen return home from mission in Syria

Before leaving Syria, an awarding ceremony was held at the Hmeymim airbase, the Russian Defense Ministry said

MOSCOW, July 17. /TASS/. One hundred aervicemen of Russian military police returned the place of their permanent deployment in the Southern Military District upon accomplishment of their mission in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.

"One hundred military policemen were brought to Mozdok by an Ilyushin Il-76 military transport plane. In Mozdok, they were warmly welcomed by the command of their army units and fellow servicemen. In Syria, the policemen were deployed to ensure security of facilities, escort humanitarian cargoes and ensure security of humanitarian operations," the ministry said.

Before leaving Syria, an awarding ceremony was held at the Hmeymim airbase, the ministry said.

Russian aircraft and crews continue to return from Syria. Thirty-five planes and helicopters, aircraft maintenance personnel and medics have already returned to Russia.
