Famous blogger is charged with stealing timber products worth over $500,000

Moscow Basmanny Court agrees to postpone the hearing of Alexey Navalny's appeal against Kirovles case resumption. It was put off until August 29. Thereby the court has satisfied the petition of the defense that asked for more time to consider the materials of the case. Navalny's attorney Olga Mikhailova said they were made aware of the ruling to resume the case, dated April 25, “just recently”.

Opposition activist, lawyer and famous blogger, Alexey Navalny, aged 36, is charged with organizing embezzlement. Investigators say Navalny, while being an advisor to the Kirov Region governor on a voluntary basis, has stolen timber products from Kirovles, which lead to a loss for the Kirov Region budget of over half billion dollars. Navalny is currently under recognizance not to leave.
