MOSCOW, June 29 (Itar-Tass) - Candidate for Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has already collected 69,869 signatures of voters in his favor, his web portal reports on Saturday.
In order to be registered, the self-nominated candidate must collect the signatures to the amount of one percent from the total amount of voters in Moscow - 73,021. Sobyanin’s election headquarters collect daily 6,000 to 7,000 signatures. After all signatures go to the Moscow Election Commission, they will be checked. This may take up to ten days.
This year the Moscow Election Commission will for the first time check all signatures collected in favor of the candidates for Moscow mayor. Earlier at least 20 percent of signatures had to be checked in a random choice. A working group of 14 people has been set up to check the authenticity of the signatures.
