MOSCOW, June 13 (Itar-Tass) - The Civic Platform Party refused to run in Moscow mayoral elections, Civic Platform leader Mikhail Prokhorov said here on Thursday.
In his words, neither he nor his sister Irina will be nominated from the party. The party will nominate no other candidates, Prokhorov added.
In Prokhorov's opinion, United Russia "has done everything in order not to allow Civic Platform to run the elections as a leading candidate, and the results are already determined".
Answering the question about the possibilities of transferring financial assets from abroad to Russia in compliance with the legal requirements for candidates for elected positions, Prokhorov pointed out that "there's a technical trick, a certain contradiction in Russian legislation" and foreign laws. "I don't want to go for this," he said.
Prokhorov stated that "we need to unite and fight for the Moscow City Duma". As Civic Platform leader sais, the party "has a year to prepare for the Moscow parliament elections". "Your mayor, our Duma. You won away the mayor, so we'll take the Duma," promised Prokhorov.
