Chinese – North Korean trade may exceed the record of the past year

SOUL, December 30 (Itar-Tass) —— In the going year, the trade between China and the DPRK may be record high and may exceed 5.6 billion dollars, the Korean Foreign Trade Association said in its forecast published on Sunday.

The Association’s experts say Pyongyang has been relying on China from the economic point of view. In January-October of the current year, the trade between the two countries grew by 6.3 percent against a similar period of the previous year. The monthly rate reaches 400-500 million dollars. Thus, the experts in Seoul say the Chinese – North Korean trade may exceed the record of the past year – 5.62 billion dollars.

China supplied to North Korea oil and oil products worth 483 million dollars, lorries worth 87.5 million and flour worth 52.6 million dollars.

The DPRK’s statistics service reports China’s share in the country’s foreign trade is above 70 percent.
