VLADIVOSTOK, December 25 (Itar-Tass) —— Over 300 kilometres of roads are closed for all vehicles in Kolyma over a strong cyclone, the duty service of the local road maintenance company told Itar-Tass by phone on Tuesday.
The traffic is closed on the 160-kilometre-long road from Magadan to the settlements Balagannoye and Talon, the 257-kilometre-long road between the settlements Gerba and Omsukchan and the 32-kilometre-long road connecting the settlements Solnechny and Ola are blocked. The snow is five meters deep on the mountain passes on these roads.
38 bulldozers, graders and other machinery are involved in the road cleanup.
The Magadan regional emergency situation department declared an avalanche hazard in the suburbs of Magadan. An avalanche is possible at any moment from the Marchekanskaya volcanic hill and it can block the roads to the seaport and in the suburbs of the residential area Snezhnya Dolina (snow valley).
All rescue services were put on high alert in Magadan, the Ola, Severo-Evensky and Omsukchan districts.
