MOSCOW, November 23 (Itar-Tass) — President of the Russian Football Union, Nikolai Tolstykh, has refuted reports on his resignation.
“Everything that’s been written about my resignation is sheer untruth,” Tolstykh told Itar-Tass. “I continue performing my occupational duties, although I’ll be on a business trip in the coming few days.”
Earlier on Friday, Radio Zenit quoted a report on the NTV Plus channel as saying Tolstykh had resigned from the post at the Russian Football Union.
A news story the radio put up at its official website said the resignation had been caused by what it called “a systemic crisis in Russia’s national championship.”
