VELSK (Arkhangelsk region), November 1 (Itar-Tass) — The Velsk District Court in the Arkhangelsk Region reduced a term in prison for former MENATEP CEO Platon Lebedev to ten years over a mitigated criminal legislation.
The public prosecutor asked to reduce the term in prison for the convict from 13 years to 11 years and three months.
In December 2010 Platon Lebedev and former YUKOS CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky were sentenced to 13 years for oil misappropriation and money laundering. With due account of the guilty verdict passed in 2005 their term of imprisonment was to expire in 2016.
The Velsk District Court has earlier reduced the sentence to Lebedev by three years and four months, but the prosecutor’s office obtained that this verdict was reviewed “over a too lenient sentence.” The Arkhangelsk Regional Court brought the criminal case back in Velsk to try it by another composition of the court.
