United Russia leading elections to Sakhalin regional Duma

After counting 78.8 percent of protocols, United Russia is scoring 49.5 percent of the vote. Next comes the Communist Party (CPRF), with 17.61 percent of votes

MOSCOW, October 14 (Itar-Tass) —— The ruling United Russia party is leading elections to the local parliament in Russia’s Far Eastern Sakhalin region, a spokesman for the Russian Central Election Commission said on Sunday after processing of more than 78 percent of protocols from local elections commissions.

After counting 78.8 percent of protocols, United Russia is scoring 49.5 percent of the vote. Next comes the Communist Party (CPRF), with 17.61 percent of votes. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) is third, with 9.17 percent of votes. The A Just Russia party is winning 7.51 percent of votes. The parties are demonstrating practically the same results as they did in the elections to the Russian State Duma last December.

The figures however may be changed after votes are counted in one-seat constituencies.

The 28-seat Sakhalin Regional Duma is elected by party tickets (14 seats) and in one-seat constituencies (14 seats).
