MOSCOW, October 13 (Itar-Tass) —— Moscow will bid the last farewells to famous Russian actress Marina Golub, who was killed tragically in a road accident. She died at the age of 54.
“The mourning ceremony with Marina Golub will be held at the Chekhov Art Theatre,” the press service of the theatre told Itar-Tass. “The civil mourning ceremony will begin at 11:00 Moscow time on Saturday. The religious remembrance service will be held at 13:00 Moscow time at the Cathedral of the Renewal of the Church in the name of Christ’s Resurrection in Uspensky Vrazhek, after that the remains of the actress will be cremated at the Central Clinical Hospital. The funeral of the actress will be held at the Troekurovskoye Cemetery on October 18,” the press service said.
Marina Golub was born to a family of a diplomat and actress of the Gogol Drama Theatre Lyudmila Golub in Moscow on December 8, 1957. Marina Golub graduated from the Chekhov Art Theatre School. For many years the actress has been starring at variety shows; later, she worked at the Theater of Miniatures headed by legendary Soviet satirical actor Arkady Raikin. After several years with the Shalom theater company Marina Golub returned to her hearth and home at the Moscow Chekhov Art Theater in 2003.
Marina Golub was also a prominent figure on television and was an anchorperson of several popular TV shows.
As soon as the news about the tragic death of the actress was broken her official website collapsed because of an overabundance of visitors. The same happened to the website of the Chekhov Art Theater. Words of condolences have been expressed in the social networks since early morning.
"Is Marina Golub dead? It is unconceivable. Marina was full of joy and energy, and one can’t imagine her dead. It is a deep sorrow. We are mourning for her,” popular Russian singer Valeria said on her website.
"I have just been told that Marina Golub died tragically. She was a wonderful actress, a person full of life. We will remember and love her,” famous photographer Yekaterina Rozhdestvenskaya said.
The tragic road accident occurred on October 10 at about midnight on the crossroads of the Vernadsky Avenue and Lobachevsky Street. The police reported that a Cadillac car violated the banning traffic lights and rammed into a Hyundai car with Marina Golub inside it. Golub and the Hyundai driver died instantaneously. The criminal case was opened over the death of actress Marina Golub in the lethal road accident.
