MOSCOW, October 6 (Itar-Tass) —— Two Moscow police officers were detained for bribery on Friday, the main Moscow police department reported.
“On Friday, the officers of the internal police security department detained two operatives in the Troitsk and Novomoskovsk districts on suspicions of taking a bribe,” the police press officer said.
Two senior police lieutenants aged 24 and 27 years were extorting 70,000 roubles from a person in exchange for not bringing him to criminal responsibility, the police press officer explained.
“The police officers said to the injured party that he should put the foresaid sum in a private car Niva parked near the police department,” he said.
After the money was put in the car, a police briber went up to the open car and took the money, then the latter and his accomplice were detained.
The service inquiry was launched in this incident. After the inquiry the detained policemen will be fired from the police and their direct chiefs will be reprimanded.
Meanwhile, the materials gathered over the bribery case will be passed in the territorial department of the Investigation Committee to take a procedural decision.
