MOSCOW, September 25 (Itar-Tass) – It would be appropriate to take a decision on reverting to the previous system of seasonal times at the level of government, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday at a news conference upon the end of talks with visiting Prime Minister Jean-Claude Junker of Luxembourg.
“The crux of the matter is whether or not there is reason in returning to the previous system of times,” he said. “We’ll analyze once again how the decision taken previously is working and then we’ll take a final one without haste or hurry.”
“I think it can be taken at the level of government and this will be the most appropriate method of settling the problem,” Putin said.
He said frankly he did not keep track of the debates on the problem of seasonal times in the past few days, adding however that “this is an issue that’s drawing the attention of the Russian public quarters.”
“That was a widely known decision and it was taken by Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev when he was President of Russia,” Putin said.
“We discussed it with him recently and he told me he wasn’t clinging to it at all,” he said. “The main consideration is rationality.”
