Opposition to make correct bid for March of Millions on Sept 5

The organizers noted that they found the refusal of the Mayor’s Office to authorize the march unlawful, because Davidis had only one administrative offence

MOSCOW, September 4 (Itar-Tass) —— The opposition will file a correct bid on September 5 for the March of Millions due on September 15 and promises to take people to the streets on this day in any case. “We will go into the streets on September 15 in any case,” member of the organizing committee of the protesting movement Alexei Navalny told Itar-Tass.

Other organizers of the planned March of Millions, namely Sergei Davidis, Sergei Udaltsov and co-chairman of the Republican Party of Russia-PARNAS Boris Nemtsov stated that the opposition will make a correct bid on September 5 to the Moscow Mayor’s Office, excluding Sergei Davidis as an applicant for the March of Millions. Meanwhile, the organizers noted that they found the refusal of the Mayor’s Office to authorize the march unlawful, because Davidis had only one administrative offence.

The oppositionists also claimed that they are not concerned over the fact that the Mayor’s Office authorized a rally on the Bolotnaya Square on September 15 (a traditional venue for opposition actions) that will be a rally of other political forces. “There are many squares in Moscow, where rallies can be held,” Udaltsov said. For his part, State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev believes that the Mayor’s Office, which permitted an action on the Bolotnaya Square for the group of applicants, “reduced the number of opportunities at the negotiations with the opposition.”

Members of the organizing committee of the protesting movement also explained that they found the tactics of filing notifications by various groups of applicants for actions in downtown Moscow along various routes inefficient, therefore, “the authorities will not go to a compromise all the same as before, because this time one notification was made by one group of applicants along one route from the Tverskaya Zastava to the Borovitskaya Square.” “The same route, along which the demonstration of the United Russia Party passed on May 1, will be specified in the bid tomorrow,” Nemtsov underlined.
