LONDON, September 4 (Itar-Tass) — The bus with the Russian volleyball Paralympic team came under fire at the Paralympic Games here on Tuesday, senior coach of the team Viktor Dyakov told Itar-Tass. The Russian team was going to play a match with Morocco, which is an outsider of Group A, in which Russia plays.
“Probably, someone fired from the traumatic pistol. The window was broken, and the bullet was going between me and the interpreter of the team, as we were sitting at the front seats. Probably, someone fired from the bridge. The window in the bus was falling slowly to pieces on the floor in the bus and the motorway along the remaining part of the road. When the bus came to the sport complex, where the matches were to start, the driver called up the police,” Dyakov presumed.
The Russian volleyball Paralympic team won in the final match of the group stage with Morocco in the volleyball tournament at the Paralympic Games in London with a 3-0 score (25:13, 25:8, 25:11) and won the second place in Group A.
The quarterfinals, in which four strongest teams from two groups will play, will be held on Wednesday.
