MOSCOW, September 3 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed Vladimir Nesterov from the post of the general director of the Khrunichev State Space Centre. The relevant decree was posted on the official Internet legal information portal on Monday.
“I decree to dismiss Vladimir Yevgenyevich Nesterov from the post of the general director of the federal state unitary enterprise Khrunichev State Space Research-and-Production Centre,” the document runs.
The decree was signed by the president on August 31 and entered into force on the same day.
At a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and head of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Vladimir Popovkin on August 31 Putin noted that the structure of the Russian space industry should be improved. “I believe that this is a matter of the organizing structure of the space industry,” Putin said then. “I expect from you proposals to improve this structure,” he said.
“If some reshuffles should be made, make your proposals,” the president said, noting that some reshuffles had already been made in the Khrunichev State Space Centre.
Roscosmos head Vladimir Popovkin said back on August 16 that Nesterov will be dismissed from the post of the general director of the Khrunichev space centre. “We do not have any life-long officials. They will be reshuffled. I can state officially that Vladimir Yevgenyevich Nesterov is about to be dismissed,” he noted.
“It was already done de facto, it is to be done only de jure that the president should issue a decree, because he was appointed on his post by the Russian president,” Popovkin noted, adding that “the work will be continued, it will not be revolutionary, and younger and more chief executives will be appointed.”
