ANKARA, August 9 (Itar-Tass) — A firefighting helicopter crashed in southwestern Turkey on Thursday, killing five crew members, including three Russians, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) reports.

A spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs said that the helicopter had fallen down to the ground in Mugla province as it was taking part in an operation to extinguish forest fires.

The TRT says that the Ministry could have leased the helicopter from a Russian company.

The Turkish newspaper Hurriyet has published the names of the dead Russians. They are Alexander Gavrilov, Sergei Khorokhorin and Nikolai Atepalikhin.
