ZERKALNY SETTLEMENT (Leningrad region), August 7 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Vladimir Putin believes the performance of the Russian national team in London must be assessed only after the Olympic Games end.
“We must have a look at the results of the whole Olympic Games and only after that one would be able to say where we were a success and where we failed,” Putin told reporters on Tuesday.
According to him, “we failed in these sports disciplines where our organizers and specialists expected medals, and we had gold medals there where we did not expect it”. This must be thoroughly analyzed afterwards, the president said.
“Sports is sports,” he stated.
