G20 businesspeople discussing stable development in world

The businesspeople are preparing the initiatives, which can be taken into account when drafting final decisions at the summit

LOS CABOS (Mexico) , June 18 (Itar-Tass) — Representatives of the G20 business quarters began their meeting here on Sunday on the eve of a G20 summit to discuss a broad range of issues related to the measures seeking to ensure stable economic development in the world. The businesspeople are preparing the initiatives, which can be taken into account when drafting final decisions at the summit, VTB President Andrei Kostin told Itar-Tass.

“The priorities, which were formulated by the Mexican government on the eve of the G20 summit, quite satisfy us, and the issues, which the businesspeople are debating at the current meeting, mostly coincide with the G20 agenda,” Kostin noted. These priorities concern food security in the world, the creation of new jobs and a broader access to financial services.

“The tradition to hold meetings of representatives of the business circles from the G20 states, which was called as B20 (from the first letter of the word business), emerged recently, and its mechanism is only being tested,” Kostin recalled. Some of them do not consider such meetings important, “but I believe that the cooperation between the G20 leaders and businesspeople is quite useful for general build-up of the world economy.

The businesspeople are having heated debates at the B20 meeting, the participants show keen interests in the development of its initiatives for the G20 leaders, Kostin said.

Speaking on a crisis in the euro zone, the VTB president noted that he will probably “last for a quite long time, because several countries have quite major debts.” “The stabilization of the situation can be expected in next five years,” the VTB president believes.
