TUNIS, June 14 (Itar-Tass) —— After curfew had been imposed in several provinces of Tunisia, Russian tourists staying in Tunisia have been recommended to refrain from individual trips beyond specified tourist zones, chief of the consular department at the Russian embassy in Tunisia Alexander Mamin told Itar-Tass.
“Under the current situation in Tunisia, Russian citizens staying there were recommended to observe measures of security, to avoid places of mass gatherings where demonstrations, pickets or strikes are organised. Russian tourists staying in Tunisia have been recommended to refrain temporarily from individual trips beyond tourist zones,” the Russian diplomat said.
On Tuesday evening, Tunisia’s Interior Ministry declared curfew at eight provinces of Tunisia from 9.00 pm through to 5.00 am local time. The curfew was enforced as a result of continuing incidents of violation of public order provoked by the upsurge of violence inspired by ultraconservative Salafi Islamists.
The situation in the country is stable. Local authorities are undertaking all possible measures to ensure law and order.
