WROCLAW, Poland, June 8 (Itar-Tass) – Russia’s national team made a successful enough start at the Euro’2012 championship Friday winning 4-1 vs the Czech Republic.
The two teams are entered in Group A.
Alan Dzagoyev scored an opening goal in the 15th minute and Roman Shirokov followed him with a second goal in the 24th minute. The Czech team’s Vaclav Pilar made a lucky strike at the 52nd minute, but Dzagoyev and Roman Pavluyechnko reaffirmed Russia’s impressive style with goals in the 79th and the 82nd minutes.
In another event in the same group, Poland and Greece drew the game 1-1.
After the first round, Russia leads in Group A with 3 scores. Poland and Greece occupy the second and the third position respectively with one score each, while the Czech team holds the fourth position with zero scores.
In the second round, which is scheduled for June 12, Poland with play vs Russia and Greece will play vs the Czechs.
