MOSCOW, May 14 (Itar-Tass) — Eastern Europe's largest-scale international exhibition of telecommunicaion equipment, information technologies and communication services, the Svyaz-ExpoComm", opens here on Monday for a 24th time. This year it has drawn more than 600 companies from 25 countries. Organizers expect that the number of visitors will be more than 35,000.
The exhibition features elaborations by the leaders of the Russian market of communication, telecommunications, and information technologies. The Rostelekom, in particular, is planning to introduce a national cloud platform and a number of cloud services that have been developed jointly with Microsoft and 1C Companies. Rostelekom is also to demonstrate telecommunication solutions in the fields of education, medicine, housing/utilities sector, and security.
Igor Shchyogolev, Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media, said earlier that exhibitors were planning to put on view an educational project which would be implemented on the basis of a video system to monitor elections. The system was brought into being by March 4.
The Kosmicheskaya Svyaz (space comunication) enterprise will demonstrate the resources of the Russian satellite cluster for the provision of modern digital communication and broadcasting services, including multimedia ones in the promising K-range of frequencies. An official in the press service of the enterprise pointed out, "This year the enterprise's display is dedicated to the 45th jubilee of the enterprise, as well as to the good record of successful cooperation with satellite-aided communication operators, including international ones".
Within the framework of the exhibition it is planned to sign a number of agreements. One among MTS, Vympelkom, Megafon, and Rostelekom on joint implementation of a large-scale infrastructure project, the details of which are not disclosed so far, is expected to be a major accord. The Kosmicheskaya Svyaz and the American Hughes Company, for their part, are to sign an agreement on cooperation in the development of satellite-aided VSAT networks in Russia.
The Svyaz-ExpoComm exhibition will be part of the "Days of Infocommunications" Days festival which will come to a close on May 17. Business programame events will be grouped on a theme basis: a Day of Information Technologies, a Day of State Governance, a Day of Mass Communications, and a Day of Telecommunications.
The main event of the first day will be an Informationals Security Forum, at which Russian and foreign expers and representatives of law enforcement agencies will tell those present about measures to fight cyber crime and will touch upon problems related to DDos -- attacks on Internet resources and on ways how to get protected from fraudulent websites.
The second day schedule will include a traditional enlarged session of the Communications Ministry Board, at which the Mnistry will sum up the results of the work done by the sector in 2011 and map out plans in the medium term. "This year the session will somewhat change its format, turning the latter part of the meeting into a discussion of the development strategies of major companies and an exchange of views with widely-representative audience," Minisitry officials pointed out.
The third day schedule provides for a session of the Council on Mass Communications. MInistry officials say that those present will discuss "specific proposals aimed at raising the competitiveness of the Russian media sector". An international business forum on the theme of "Electronic Government in Russia" will be held on the same day to consider the actual practice of providing electronic state services, the use of cloud technologies to minimize expenditure on and raise the quality of state services, as well as the process of introducing general-purpose electronic cards in Russia.
The agenda of the concluding day of the conference provides for a discussion of a strategy for the modernization of means of communication in Russia's regions and introduction of high-speed technologies for the transmission of LTE data. The Days of Infocommunications will end with the presentation of the professional Radiomania Award.
