One man killed, 18 rail tanks derailed in car-train collision in Leningrad region

MOSCOW, May 7 (Itar-Tass) —— One person was killed and 18 rail tanks went off rails after a motor car rammed a freight train rammed in the Leningrad region, a spokesman for the Russian Railways company told Itar-Tass on Monday.

The accident took place at about 14:10 Moscow time near the station Voiskovitsy in Gatchina district. The driver of a VAZ-2110 car ignored traffic lights at a railway crossing and rammed central sections of the train. The car driver died instantly.

An investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, the company spokesman said the accident might impact railway traffic along this line causing delays.
