NALCHIK, March 12 (Itar-Tass) — A counterterrorist operation is underway in an area of country houses in Kabardino-Balkaria's Chegem district.
The regime of a counter-terrorist operation was imposed in the settlement of Mir at 06:30 Moscow time this Monday, a source at the operational headquarters in the republic told Itar-Tass.
A group of gunmen is blocked in a house. They opened fire in response to the order to surrender. Fighting is continuing there.
The regime is imposed to prevent terrorist actions, ensure security for people and organizations and find and detain hiding gunmen.
Special measures and temporary restrictions will be in force in the area during the operation.
