WTO accession to improve conditions for Russian products

Russia’s accession to WTO will make it possible to create better conditions for the access of Russian products to foreign markets

MOSCOW, February 29 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s accession to WTO will make it possible to create better conditions for the access of Russian products to foreign markets and will have positive effects on Russian consumers, candidate for Russia’s presidency Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with election agents and representatives of the All-Russia People’s Front on Wednesday.

“As for the WTO entry, the activity within the framework of that organization will help to create better conditions for the access of our products to foreign markets for protection of our producers against unfair competition,” Putin stressed.

Putin also noted that “in essence, unique, privileged conditions of membership” had been ensured in the course of negotiations on Russia’s WTO bid. However, the prime minister admitted a threat for certain economic sectors. With that in mind, it is necessary to make efforts to support producers. “There will be enough instruments there, it is only necessary to react to that timely,” he added.
