SAROV, February 24 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia has ‘something’ to prompt the U.S. to hold a more constructive missile defense dialog, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
“We have something to prompt our colleagues and partners to be more constructive, but that does not happen so far,” he said.
“A short time ago, several years ago, they did not tell us personally but I know they (the U.S.) told their alliance (NATO) colleagues: let Russia potter around, we are not quite interested, they have nothing left but scrap metal. That is not so! Today that is absolutely not so!” Putin said.
Russia will not take unilateral steps in nuclear disarmament, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told national security experts on Friday.
Future steps must be comprehensive and include all nuclear powers, he said. “We cannot disarm endlessly, while other nuclear powers are arming. That is ruled out,” he said.
The share of modern missile systems in the Russian land-based nuclear deterrence forces has doubled in the past three years, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
“The share of modern missile systems in the land-based nuclear deterrence forces has doubled, from 13% to 25%. That is a serious growth,” he said.
The delivery of Topol-M and Yars missiles continues. “Ten regiments were equipped with missile defense systems. Topol-M and Yars are modern weapons. That is serious,” he said.
