Abkhazia general prosecutor opens case over the assassination attempt on Ankvab

The Abkhazian Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case over an assassination attempt on Abkhazian President Alexander Ankvab

SUKHUM, February 22 (Itar-Tass) —— The Abkhazian Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case over an assassination attempt on Abkhazian President Alexander Ankvab.

The criminal case was opened under three articles of the Abkhazian Criminal Code for an attempt on the life of a statesman in order to disrupt his public and political activities, revenge for these activities, murder of two and more people during the performance of official duties, the illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, carrying of weapons, ammunition and explosives by an organized criminal group.

The search team is working at the incident site, involving criminal experts, sappers and police dog handlers. The interdepartmental search team was formed, including detectives from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Security Service and operatives from the police and the security service.
