MOSCOW, February 18 (Itar-Tass) —— The number of young teachers in Russian schools has grown by 10 percent, Minister of Education and Science Andrei Fursenko said.
According to the ministry, the number of young teachers in secondary schools increased by 25 percent in eight months (between January 1 and September 1, 2011).
“The teaching profession stops being non-prestigious” Fursenko said at a meeting of the ministry board on Saturday, February 18.
In his opinion, the absence of vacancies in schools testifies to this.
A new teacher for a new school not only gives knowledge to children but also teaches them how to study and makes the studying process interesting and attractive.
He believes that the ministry should state up-to-date requirements to teachers and help create conditions for their professional growth.
