Putin asks not to politicize issue of clock change to winter time

“We must once again speak with experts, discuss this with the society on the whole, and make a final decision"

KURGAN, February 14 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Monday came out against attempts to politicize the issue of putting Russia’s clocks back for winter.

“We must once again speak with experts, discuss this with the society on the whole, and make a final decision after this calm and non-politicized analysis,” the prime minister said. He said that neither President Medvedev nor he had ever said it was the final decision. He stressed that “Dmitry Anatolievich made this decision after many had asked him” not to put clocks back for winter.

He believes this move is criticized because the abolishment of winter time has caused inconveniences for those who travel a lot or watch foreign TV programs. But it was because many people were against wintertime that Russia remained on summertime, he stressed.
