ASTANA, January 20 (Itar-Tass) — Nurlan Nigmatulin, 49, is unanimously elected chairman of the Kazakh national parliament's lower house.
Nigmatulin graduated from the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute. He is a doctor of polytechnic sciences. Between 1985 and 1993, he was a senior official in the republic's youth structures. In 2002-2006, he was deputy head of Astana's administration, deputy minister of transport and communications and deputy chief of staff of the Kazakh presidential administration. From January 2006 to November 2009, Nigmatulin headed the Karaganda regional administration, and from November 19, 2009, he was first deputy chairman of the People's Democratic Party (Nur Otan). The chairman is Nazarbayev.
Since January 2012, he is a member of the parliament's lower house from the Nur Otan party.
