KRASNOYARSK, December 28 (Itar-Tass) —— Some 1,426 people, including 632 children, were evacuated from Kyzyl as a result of a strong earthquake, the press service of the Tuva emergency situation department told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
Evacuated people were accommodated at rural houses of culture. A temporary accommodation centre was opened at the centre of culture and leisure in Shagonar. About 200 people, including 130 underage children, 60 of them are infants were accommodated at the centre. A total of 1,626 people, including 762 children, were evacuated in the republic.
“To avoid panic the explanations are given to residents in the republic. Temporary emergency response headquarters were set up in Shagonar and Saryg-Sel in the Kaa-Khem district, not far from which the earthquake nested,” the press service reported.
“The operative situation is stable and is being kept under control in the republic. Neither casualties nor damaged buildings, not looting cases were reported,” the press service added.
