MOSCOW, December 20 (Itar-Tass) —— The number of Muscovites grew by one million to 11.5 million, judging by the latest population census, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Tuesday.
“According to the latest population census, Moscow has grown by more than one million people,” he said.
The previous population census in Russia took place in 2002. Since then the Russian population declined by 2.3 million people, including 1.1 million in cities and 1.2 million in the countryside, head of the Federal State Statistics Service Alexander Surinov said earlier.
