Earthquake jolts southern Japan, no tsunami threat

There was no tsunami threat. However, residents of the islands felt strong shocks

TOKYO, December 11 (Itar-Tass) — An earthquake measuring 5.4 points on the Richter scale rocked southern Japan on Sunday.

According to the country’s national meteorological agency, the quake’s epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean close to the Amami Islands. The focus of the quake was at the depth of 40 kilometers.

There was no tsunami threat. However, residents of the islands felt strong shocks.
