BERLIN, November 8 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) is inevitable, President Dmitry Medvedev told German businessmen in Berlin on Tuesday.
“It took us longer than some of our big partners, among them China,” he said.
“We have always enjoyed support of business, not only Russian businessmen but also our friends and colleagues from other countries, our German partners, who realize that the WTO is not a carrot that forces Russia to take certain steps. Our entry into the WTO is inevitable for Russia and the WTO: the economy that ranks sixth by its consumer ability and such a large country cannot be outside of the WTO,” he said.
“We are actively working on comfortable conditions for private business. New legislative initiatives will be made to combat corruption and to crush administrative barriers,” Medvedev said.
