KIEV, October 25 (Itar-Tass) —— The ships of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet will be upgraded, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Yezhel told the media on Tuesday. He dismissed reports to the effect Ukraine prohibits Russia from carrying out the upgrade work.
“The life cycle of any ships is 25-30 years. They get old with time. So the Black Sea Fleet’s upgrade will certainly be carried out,” Yezhel said.
Under the applicable terms of the effective agreement on the deployment of the Black Sea Fleet Russia has the right to upgrade ship only with Ukraine’s consent.
