ULAN UDE, October 7 (Itar-Tass) —— The forest fire emergency regime has been announced in four districts of Buryatia. The forest fire alert is in effect in another six districts, a source at the Buryatia main emergency situations department told Itar-Tass on Friday.
“There are eleven taiga fires on the area slightly exceeding 90 hectares. The unexpectedly warm weather of up to 20 degrees Centigrade is accompanied with high winds,” the source said. “The situation is under control. There is no threat to populated areas.”
More than 600 people with over 100 machines are putting out the fires.
The human factor is the main cause of the forest fires. More than 400 people have been detained for breaching fire safety rules in forests, and the total amount of administrative fines has topped 4 million rubles.
