CARACAS, October 2 (Itar-Tass) — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said: “I prepared an excellent surprise for those who want my death and assert that I was hospitalised, that I was paralysed and even cannot say a word.”
Speaking on Sunday at his presidential palace, he noted that he has been successfully recuperating and feels a rising tide of forces with every coming day.
The leader of the Bolivarian revolution expressed confidence that he would fully restore his health by the year-end so as to conduct an election campaign on the eve of the 2012 presidential elections. “I’m only saddling my horses now,” Chavez said figuratively, promising his fellow compatriots that he would be fully ready by the year-end for new political victories.
“I felt myself only three months ago as if I was knocked down. However, the process of recuperation passed surprisingly well,” the president continued.
Speaking of those who want his death, Chavez had in mind the Miami-based Spanish-language newspaper Nuevo Herald that reported this week that the Venezuelan president was hurriedly hospitalised with symptoms of acute renal insufficiency.
Referring to anonymous sources in Caracas, the newspaper reported that Chavez was checked in at a Caracas military hospital whose doctors are discussing the question of his transfer to a private clinic with sophisticated equipment to carry out a dialysis.
