Results of socio-economic development of FE region summed up

Heads of the district’s subjects, deputies of the State Duma and representatives of the Russian Ministry of Regional Development took part in the meeting

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, September 13 (Itar-Tass) —— The results of the socio-economic development of the Far Eastern region were summed up at a meeting held by the president’s envoy in the Far Eastern District Viktor Ishayev in Sakhalin on Tuesday. Heads of the district’s subjects, deputies of the State Duma and representatives of the Russian Ministry of Regional Development took part in the meeting.

“The results of the first six months are positive,” the envoy said, “the volumes of production of mineral resources, fish and see food products, as well as investments in the fixed capital stock and cargo turnover increased. Some 470,000 square metres of housing, almost 20 percent more than in the same period of last year, were commissioned.”

The positive dynamics is recorded in the social sphere: the amount of the average wage in the district in the first six months amounted to 27,700 roubles and exceeded Russia’s average wage by 24 percent. In Sakhalin, this index is equal to 36,100 roubles.

On Tuesday, Ishayev will also hold the first meeting of the working group for the implementation of the Programme of cooperation of regions of the Far East and Eastern Siberia with North-Eastern China.
