DUSHANBE, September 2 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia is ready to develop cooperation with Afghanistan both in the economic sphere and the field of politics and security, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai in Dushanbe on Friday.
“We are ready to develop our cooperation with Afghanistan both in the economic sphere and the maintenance of a political dialogue, a dialogue in the sphere of security and a dialogue on humanitarian issues,” Medvedev stressed.
Karzai agreed with his view saying that “Afghanistan is satisfied with the expansion of relations with Russia.” “This is the natural way which we should follow,” the Afghan president said.
Apart from a bilateral meeting, Medvedev and Karzai took part in a quadrilateral summit with their colleagues from Pakistan and Tajikistan in Dushanbe.
